How To Become A Christian

If Jesus really is who Scripture says He is—Savior, King, and Lord—then the most important question isn’t what do you think about Him, but what do you do with Him. Belief always leads somewhere. And that brings us to an honest and necessary question: How do you follow Jesus?

Recognize Your Need for a Savior

  • “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
  • “All we like sheep have gone astray.” Isaiah 53:6

Believe Who Jesus Is and What He Has Done

  • “God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
  • “For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins… that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day.” 1 Corinthians 15:3–4

Repent — Turn from Sin and Turn to God

  • “Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.” Acts 3:19
  • “For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret.” 2 Corinthians 7:10

Confess and Surrender to Jesus as Lord

  • “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9–10
  • “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” Luke 9:23

Receive Salvation by Grace Through Faith

  • “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works.” Ephesians 2:8–9
  • “He saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his mercy.” Titus 3:5

Be Made New by the Holy Spirit

  • “Unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” John 3:3
  • “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation.” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Begin a New Life of Following Jesus

  • “They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship.” Acts 2:42
  • “As you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him.” Colossians 2:6
